'Raising Kids with Character’ is topic of May 31 conference

Coleen Kelly Mast, an author, lecturer and radio talk show host, will speak on “Raising Kids with Character,” on Saturday, May 31 at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, located at 5057 Cottage Way in Carmichael.
Mast is the host of a syndicated call-in radio show, “The Doctor is In,” which is broadcast on more than 100 Catholic radio stations as well as on Sirius Satellite Radio.
Her topics will include how character is different than behavior and good manners, the four priorities of being a good parent, and some simple ideas for teaching character at home.
Mast holds a master’s degree in health education and secondary teaching certificates in four specialty fields. She has taught at the elementary, junior high and high school levels and is the mother of five children.
The conference is sponsored by the diocese’s Department of Evangelization and Catechesis and will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at noon. Cost is $10 per person. For more information, call (916) 733-0123.
