Catholic youths invited to Oct. 16 gathering in Vallejo
More than 3,200 youths will gather at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo for “NorCal Jam,” the 58th annual diocesan youth convention on Saturday, Oct. 16.
The day of music, food, fun and fellowship is spearheaded by Kevin Staszkow, associate director of youth and young adult ministry for the Sacramento Diocese. It is a collaborative effort of nine Northern California and Nevada dioceses (Sacramento, Stockton, Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Rosa, Monterey, Fresno and Reno.
Staszkow said the event will serve as the 58th annual diocesan youth convention and as the eighth annual Solano Deanery Praise Party.
The day will start with a praise and worship concert featuring Christian artist and songwriter Matt Maher and Sarah Hart, Mass celebrated by the bishops of Northern California, and a keynote talk.
Over the past few years, Maher has been on quite a journey, making the transition from full-time ministry at his home church in Mesa, Ariz., to life as a respected worship leader with an international platform.
The day will continue in the park with unlimited rides, a lunch buffet, and an hour of prayer for parents of teens featuring Hart. The event will culminate in the “Light Meets the Dark Tour,” featuring Maher, “Tenth Avenue North” and “Addison Road.”
Tickets for the event are $35 per person and can be purchased online at http://norcalcatholicyouth.com.
