Celebrating the ministry and vision of Bishop Weigand

Laity, clergy and religious are invited to attend two events in November in honor of Bishop William K. Weigand for his 15 years of service to the Diocese of Sacramento.
A farewell celebration dinner for Bishop William K. Weigand to mark his 15th anniversary as bishop of Sacramento and pending retirement will be held on Monday, Nov. 24 at the Radisson Hotel in Sacramento. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a no-host social hour followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person or a table of 10 costs $500. Seating is limited. On Sunday, Nov. 30, the first Sunday of Advent, a Mass of thanksgiving will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in downtown Sacramento.
At the Mass, Bishop Weigand will transfer the crozier to Coadjutor Bishop Jaime Soto as the ninth bishop of Sacramento. All Catholics of the diocese are invited to attend to say farewell to Bishop Weigand and to welcome Bishop Soto.

Send or e-mail in a short reflection or tribute about Bishop Weigand that will be considered for publication in a special Nov. 22 edition that will mark the bishop’s 15th anniversary and pending retirement.
