Deaf Ministry
Deaf Ministry serves Catholics who are deaf or hard of hearing with opportunities for sacraments, prayer, and community. We support parishes welcoming deaf and hard of hearing people and their families, as well as provide a center for Deaf Catholic worship and fellowship at the Newman Catholic Community.
We offer:
- Mass in American Sign Language
- Classes for adults and children
- Community and fellowship groups
- Sacraments including Baptism, First Communion, and Marriage
- Preparation for Sacraments
- Sign classes
- Interpreters
- Training for religious interpreteres
- Newsletter
- Regularly scheduled Masses and workshops in ASL, led by Father Paul Zirimenya, pastor of St. Benedict Parish for the Deaf, San Francisco
