Youth Ministry
Our Philosophy
Youth Ministry participates in the mission of the Catholic Church by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with young people, promoting their healthy personal and spiritual development, and challenging them to live in the world as disciples of Jesus.
Catholic Youth Ministry is best expressed when the needs of all young people are considered and opportunities to meet them are provided. This is best accomplished using a comprehensive approach. “The comprehensive approach is not a single program or recipe for ministry. Rather, it provides a way for integrating ministry with adolescents and their families into the total life and mission of the Church, recognizing that the whole community is responsible for this ministry (RTV 19).” Each member of the faith community is integral to the personal and spiritual development of young people.
In order to effectively minister to the youth in a comprehensive and holistic manner, we must work collaboratively — within our parishes, communities, diocese, and world — with our Catholic agencies and organizations and with civic and other faith communities as well. We recognize that young people have gifts, talents, enthusiasm, and a longing for God, and we strive to meet their spiritual, emotional, physical, and relational needs.
