Bishop William K. Weigand presided at a confirmation for adults
during a noon Mass in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento
on May 5. More than 120 adult candidates were confirmed from parishes throughout
the diocese with their sponsors in attendance. The opportunity is provided
to adult Catholics who have received religious instruction in the past,
have received the sacraments of baptism and Eucharist, who are practicing
their faith, but have not been confirmed. Candidates were prepared for confirmation
with catechesis during the past few months at their respective parishes,
and were offered the opportunity to receive the sacrament of penance and
reconciliation before the sacrament of confirmation. Above, candidates and
