Novena in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Sponsored by the lay Carmelite community at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish at 2700 Dover Ave. in Fairfield. Novena begins each evening at 7 p.m., closing with a procession on July 15. Carmelite Father Sebastian Meyer will celebrate Mass at 7 p.m. on July 16. Prayers will include the rosary, Litany of Our Lady, act of consecration, Mary’s songs and reflection in Carmel. Mass of the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. With enrollment ceremony for the brown scapular for those who wish to be enrolled. Western barbeque dinner. A fund-raiser for St. James Mission Church in Georgetown. Dinner will include tri-tip steak, beans, salad, bread and pie. Always Our Children. A Catholic support group for parents of lesbian, gay or bisexual children of any age. The group, approved by Bishop William Weigand, provides a safe place to share, an opportunity to receive the support of other parents, a place of compassion and an environment of trust and confidentiality.
