Mission
The Catholic Herald, official newspaper of the Diocese
of Sacramento,
is published twice monthly except monthly in July and December, and mailed
to 55,000 households in the 20 counties of the diocese. Individual subscriptions
are $20 per year.
The Catholic Herald shares in the universal church’s mission of proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. In doing so it will:
- Provide fair and accurate information about the worldwide, national and local church.
- Maintain journalistic integrity and credibility. The Herald will give fair, balanced and factual treatment to all sides of stories of interest to the Catholic community. It will neither avoid nor sensationalize controversial news.
- Serve all ethnic and racial groups without favoritism, regularly including news about and opinions from each.
- Strive to educate about official church teachings and encourage their practical application.
- Provide a forum for expression of views that reflect the church’s diversity. Their publication, however, shall not imply an endorsement by The Catholic Herald, unless explicitly stated.
