The mission and purpose of the Liturgical Commission of the Diocese of Sacramento:
Our Mission
To serve the people of God in their full, active and conscious participation in the public worship of the Church.
Purpose and Responsibilities
To be informed on the liturgical needs of the parishes

To be fully informed on the state of pastoral liturgical activity in the diocese

To keep informed on liturgical studies and programs taking place elsewhere

To faithfully carryout proposals in liturgical matters declared by the proper authority
To promote liturgical renewal throughout the Diocese

To promote practical programs of every kind that contribute to the advancement of liturgical life

To promote authentic liturgical celebration

To provide consultation to the Office of Worship regarding formation for liturgical ministers
To provide counsel to the Bishop and the Office of Worship on liturgical matters

To ensure that programs designed to promote liturgy within the diocese proceed in concert with other liturgical commissions of the assembly of bishops

To provide a forum in which to address liturgical issues resulting from legislation or observation

To advise the Bishop and the Office of Worship regarding means of assisting parish priests and parishes in assessing and enriching liturgical practice
- To provide feedback to the Bishop and the Office of Worship regarding pastoral needs and concerns in liturgy
To help develop and provide formation resources to parishes

To suggest timely, step-by-step measures for the work of pastoral liturgy in individual parishes and throughout the diocese

To appoint and to call upon people capable of helping priests in liturgical matters as occasions arise

To propose suitable means and resources for the active formation of authentic liturgy
